Day 10: Closed Captioning
Our latest screencast, on NULL values in SQL, is now online. [Link no longer active; more recent screencast on NULL values.] Unlike its predecessors, this one has closed captions (as well as a transcript in the enclosing page). Please let us know what you think: are the captions helpful, or do you find them distracting?
I didn’t find them useful, but presumably the major reason to include them is for accessibility. Ideally it would seem like they could be turned on optionally, like closed captioning on the TV, but if that isn’t feasible I didn’t find them particularly distracting so they could easily be left in place for those that need them.
